After the queen eats it and dies, her colony dies with her. The granules are designed for individual mound treatment but can also be used for broadcast application in outdoor areas. Amdro Yard Treatment Fire Ant Bait destroys visible and hidden mounds. Even better, it stops new mounds from forming. It is easy to apply with a common lawn spreader and covers up to 10,0000 square feet. Do not water in the treated area. The active ingredients in Amdro Fire Ant Yard Treatment Bait granules have very low toxicity to people, animals, and birds. Pets may re-enter the treated area once the dust has settled.
