Originating from the early 20th century, seagrass has served multiple uses; today, this Seagrass Lantern is a stylishly repurposed solar lantern for the modern day home. The dried seagrass is weaved around a round iron mold, then fumigated and sun dried to ensure its weather-resistance. Located at the top of the lantern is a hanging single-cell solar panel (battery included) that absorbs sunlight by day and automatically turns on the white LED at night. The nighttime spectacle is otherworldly as the light passes through the interlaced openings.
