Description

Same Rain Bird DV-series workhorse you trust on threaded jobs — only this one solvent-welds directly into a 1 in. PVC main without an extra threaded adapter or a roll of Teflon tape. The 100DVSS gives you the same Buna-N diaphragm, the same 24 VAC solenoid, the same 90-mesh self-cleaning filter as the threaded 100DV, but the inlet and outlet are 1 in. Schedule 40 PVC slip sockets — glue the valve straight into the trench and move on. Fewer fittings means fewer leak points and a tighter manifold spacing.

Why Installers Pick the SS

  • Slip x Slip (solvent-weld) 1 in. PVC sockets — no NPT thread sealant, no overtorque cracks
  • Glues directly onto Schedule 40 PVC mains — fewer adapters in the valve box
  • Universal compatibility — works with any 24 VAC residential or commercial sprinkler timer
  • Self-cleaning 90 mesh (200 micron) inlet filter — cuts callbacks from grit-fouled diaphragms
  • Buna-N diaphragm with reinforcement — resilient to chlorinated municipal water and minor sand load
  • Internal and external manual bleed — flush the line during install, or trigger the zone without running back to the controller
  • Captive plunger and spring — no parts to drop in the trench during a service call
  • Latching solenoid compatible — swap in a Rain Bird latching solenoid to run on a battery-powered DC controller (TBOS-II, WPX, ESP-LXIVM)
  • Operates down to low-flow Xerigation rates with an upstream Rain Bird RBY filter

SS vs. NPT — Which One?

  • 100DVSS (this product) — 1 in. PVC slip sockets, glued connections, ideal when the supply line is already PVC and you want the cleanest manifold layout possible
  • 100DV — 1 in. NPT female threads, ideal when you’re tying into galvanized, brass, or threaded poly assemblies, or when you may want to remove the valve later for service

Where It Shines

  • New PVC-mainline residential installs where every fitting matters
  • Replacement on existing PVC manifolds — cut, glue, done
  • Tight valve-box installs where threaded-to-slip adapters won’t fit
  • Jurisdictions requiring an upstream PVB or DCVA — the DV handles the zone shut-off, the backflow device handles cross-connection protection

Install Notes

  • Use Schedule 40 PVC primer and standard wet/dry medium-set PVC cement on both sockets
  • Allow the recommended cure time before pressurizing — 30 minutes for cold-weather cure, faster in heat
  • Mount with the flow-direction arrow pointed downstream
  • For low-flow drip / Xerigation zones, add an RBY-100MX (1 in. wye filter) upstream to prevent diaphragm seat fouling at low velocities
  • If the zone is on a battery controller (TBOS-II, WPX, ESP-LXIVM), order Rain Bird latching solenoid p/n DV-LATCH separately
  • Verify the controller is powered off before splicing the solenoid leads — a hot DC pulse can latch the wrong state
