Snow Puff Hybrid Popcorn
This productive variety produces plump kernels that “explode” in large, delicious, and tender popcorn. Popcorn is grown like sweet corn, but the ears are allowed to remain on the stalks until they are dry, tan and brittle. Considered one of the best snack foods. Plants 100 feet.
When and where to plant
Select sunny location and plant after last frost and weather has warmed. Soil should be fertilized with vegetable food and cultivated. To insure good pollination sow seed in blocks of at least 4 rows side by side rather than one long row.
Care
Cultivate or mulch to control weeds. Fertilize when plants are 12-18″.
Harvesting
Pick when stalks and ears are completely dry. Allow ears to cure for 3-4 weeks in a dry place before shelling. Ears are ready to shell when kernels come off completely with moderately aggressive twisting motion with both hands. Store in sealed jars for several weeks before popping.
